KGB HELP - Holding Weight/Lose pounds

Post by hnmcginnes » Fri Feb 05, 2021 8:46 am

Good morning KGB

On 1/21 my show hog was 265.5. He had already been cut back on feed for our fair and was being fed 1# of Knights show pig 20% (Corn Dent grain, Soybean Meal 48%, Swine Mineral, Soy Oil) a day. A week ago I added Fitter 35 following the total ration it suggested. Yesterday I weighed him at 292. I have 20 days till weigh in and I don't want him to be over 300. Preferably If I can get him down into the 280's that would be best.

I am an FFA advisor and this is our chapter hog so I am not sure what caused this weight spike (possibly was given the 2#'s Fitter twice a day from the students showing him) but is there anything I can do? He LOOKS great but I just need him to drop some pounds.

Thanks so much!

I’m not sure what the statement: A week ago I added Fitter 35 follow g the total ration it suggested” means.

What is he currently being fed total per day (how much feed and how much Fitter 35)?

In any event the way to slow and possibly lose some weight is to feed:
(Total daily feed; divide into 2 equal meals):
high Octane Fitter 35. 3 lb
High Octane Depth Charge. 8 oz

NO other feed
