Ground Feed Suggestions

KGB,
I have a mid-January Litter that I am getting ready to transition off of 319. I typically use Champion Drive for the only supplement until I get closer to show time (July-August). Do you have any suggestions for a feed recipe? I felt like last year my pig put on too much cover and lost some of their modern showpig design. Also, am I missing a key component on the supplement side for 50#-150# pigs?

Some questions:
- what did you feed last year?
- what part of the country (state) are you located in?
- by “feed recipe” what are you referring to?

Thanks

So by recipe I guess I’m talking about ground feed mix. Last year my 1000# mix consisted of:
500# Ground Corn
400# Soybean Meal
30# Sow Mix
30# Showpig Base
40# Soy Oil

I live in Central Missouri and order my feed from a local Purina Dealer that I really like. I add Champion Drive to that mixture just looking for feedback and suggestions on tips to improve.

I suggest using Purina HONOR Showpig Mixer (formerly Showpig Premix) instead of Sow Mix. Sow Mix doesn't provide all the vitamins. It is designed to add to an existing grow finish premix to fortify for sows. The formula you listed is missing most of the minerals and vitamins needed.

Replace both Sow Mix and Showpig Base with 100 lbs of Showpig MIxer that does contain all the minerals and vitamins needed.

Showpig Base is a protein blend (fish, milk, eggs, etc....) it has NO added minerals or vitamins. Sow Mix has a few (biotin, pyridoxine, and folic acid).
