I have PB Durocs that are between 30-40 lbs. I would like them to be 250-260 in 92
days. They are currently eating pellets with 18% protein, 1% lysine, 5% fat and 6% fiber. I would like them to gain 220 + lbs in 90 days. They are inside with plenty of water from hose with nipple. Took them off self feeder today. Will start hand feeding 2X per day. The gilt has a cough so I will try worming her this week. Feed suggestions appreciated.

I know this is about a month late but here’s my $.02

If your hogs are at 40lbs and you want them to be 260lbs in 92days, take your target weight, minus your current weight, so 260lbs - 40lbs = 220lbs which is the total weight needed to gain...next take your total weight needed to gain and divide by the amount of days till the show (220/92) = 2.3lbs this is you ADG (Average Daily Gain) or the amount of weight they need to gain per day to reach your target weight.

Usually pigs retain half of what they ingest, so for your hog to gain 2.3lbs/day you need to feed it roughly around 4.5-5lbs of feed per day

The most important thing is fresh cool water 24/7, I also would recommend giving them electrolytes once a week to help keep them on feed during the hot summer months. You might look into getting a jug of “4sure” made by Sunglo or “Rehydrate” made by ADM. don’t over do it, just go by the label on feeding instructions

Also an extremely important thing to do is continue to worm your hogs every 30 days, if you neglect worming them THEY WILL NOT GROW OR GAIN WEIGHT!

Hope this helps you a little
