58 days out... need 2 lbs a day average. PLEASE help frustrated dad.

OK... My daughter HAD to do a spot this year... of COURSE it came off the truck small. the hamp my son got looks great.

We are at 90 lbs. show minimum to sale is 200. We want to be in the 220+ to get a nice # at auction. free feeding now with 2 other pigs... but we are gonna start feeding in pans saturday am.

THey were on sunglo 18, until DD didnt pay attention(feed ran low) and now have been on show rite 17.5 mixed with sunglo until the sunglo truck comes tomorrow.

What I need help with is a plan for feeding/supplementation. Saturday on we will be doing 2x a day feedings. I have used sumo and paylean in the past.... also tried the fatty diet last year with the cake batter and cookies and anything we could pump in all to no avail. long story. much pain in as*...

Appreciate any help you can give me. At this point I am past the fine tuning of form and top line and just want a 200+ lb pig across the darn scale.... thanks in advance!

I've been able to get huge weight gains using some advise on this website, and it worked. Feed your pig twice a day, but let them only eat for 20-30 minutes. Then pull the feed. It took a couple of days for the pig to realize that if she was going to eat, she had to eat when she was fed. Using this method, we went from a 1 pound of ADG to 2.5 pounds of ADG. We were also using purina's heavy weight mixed in with her feed. We did not use Paylean. I hope this helps.

thanks! Yup. we started hand feeding saturday 3 lbs twice a day with 2 oz of heavy weight, upping to 8 ounces over 10 days or so..... they took to it way better than previous years... very little of the oh I will eat later walk away...

we will do some paylean in the 150lb plus time... get some muscle happening.

Sounds like you are on the right path. I second the Hvy. weight - had good results with it in the past getting 2.5 lbs a day gain. Good luck.
