weight gain

Post by sparklesmom » Tue Jul 18, 2017 6:11 am

My barrow is 170 lbs with 26 days til weigh in

Is on Purina 809 mixed with 909 4 lbs day (all he will eat)
heavy weight 12 oz day
champion drive 1 lb day
on this he has gained 2 lbs per day

hand fed twice a day-slopped
I only have 1 bag left of 909 and it takes 3 weeks to get in so will be too late
I did not want to use paylean if possible
will be right at 220 which is our lower limit which is fine, but would like to be a little over any suggestions? Thanks

Can I ask why you do not want to use Paylean?

My daughter has a heart condition and she does all the feeding since is her project. When I read the warning label I have been hesitant to use it. Our pigs are very sound but I don't know stress negative or not. That's only reason. I may not know enough about it

Fair enough very good reason.

Stay on 809, Heavy Weight and Champion Drive. If you aren't already mix the Heavy Weight with enough water to make a milk shake like consistency then add to the feed.

I read your comment of the heart condition. I am in the same situation with my 2 kids and myself.

We just use precautions in that we use solvent gloves when handling the feed.

Just a thought, everyone has to make the decisions that they are comfortable with.
