Supplement to help them drive

Post by ddwil » Tue Jul 25, 2017 7:26 am

I have a couple pigs that will not drive very well. They won't get their heads up and won't walk hardly at all now. Typically a lot of grunting and or squealing goes with these as well. Took them off of Paylean 4 days ago. These are very good pigs that will be extremely competitive if they can drive better. Just wanting to know if there is something out there that will help them

There is one secret: spending time with the pigs. The more time you spend the better they will perform for you.

That is not the case here for sure when they have been walked since the middle of June and hand fed every day twice a day

I don't know of any supplement to make pigs drive better. Hand feeding and walking doesn't break them. Those things help. But, I've seen many pigs that are hand fed and walked daily, and still run around the show ring.

At the show, Essential Composure Calming Paste is a great tool. 30 cc tube provides 3 doses. Usually, a dose the night before and a dose the morning of show will do the trick - can use the final dose about half hour before heading to ring for one that really needs some help. It takes the edge off the pig, mellows them out, slows them down and makes them more manageable to get shown. All natural ingredients - tryptophan, thiamine, magnesium.
