pigs off feed
pigs off feed
went to fair and pig got sick 104 temp treated with baytril only because it was show day and in order to show that was all that was allowed. we took pig home that night and gave banamine for temp and temp is gone at the present time but still cannot get her or her pen mate to eat.It has been 4 days since the show and 3 days fever free any help or ideas would be great.
Re: pigs off feed
Make sure that they have plenty of cool fresh water. Also do not keep a large amount of feed in front of them. Keep offering them fresh feed. If they will, try and get them up and exercise some. It just takes time. Last year one of ours was off feed for 5-6 days before the full appetite came back.

Re: pigs off feed
thank you for the replies. gilts are not in heat and have plenty of fresh cold water. Not eating again this morning and one has a 103 temp so must be a viral issue. Gave baytril again and plan on retreat in 48 hrs. any other suggestions appreciated. thank you
