So my local fair is in 6 days and I show in 7 days, my pig is high strung and doesn't want to just stay at a walk she wants to run and I can't have her doing that in the show ring. I don't want her to loose weight because she can't afford to loose any or we'll risk not making weight for fair, so I can only walk her about every other day. I was thinking of trying to give her something to calm her, but the calming paste you can buy in stores is illegal at our fair so I need natural ways to try to calm her & take the edge off. If you have any ideas I'd love to hear them!!
Please help!! first year showing! will try anything
Natural Ways To Calm Show Pig
Re: Natural Ways To Calm Show Pig
Not sure about natural calming agents, but I would walk her prior to entering the class (don't take her directly from your pen to the show ring). Get her just a little tired so she doesn't take off when she enters the ring.

Vitamin B1 will help crush the pills up in the feed I would start with several pills per feeding and you will need to build it up in their body.

Whatever you use, try it before the show. One year the breeder we bought pigs from gave us something to help our hog not tire out in the ring. From the time my son entered the ring to the time he left, his hog ran around the ring like a lunatic, rolled around in the shavings and squealed the entire time. He had never acted like that before. I learned a valuable lesson that day!
