Supplement Help

Hi -

I attached a link at the bottom to look at photos of my pig. Any advice on what supplements I should be feeding? What would you say are her strong/weak points on how her body looks? (e.g. What would you change on her if you could, and what do you like about her?)

She is a crossbreed female, and she will be at my county fair from June 29 to July 8. She is currently on Show-Rite 17.5%, and eating 4.5 lb. per day of it. She is eating it all and very hungry when I feed her everyday. She is on the heavy side... Her weights from about the past two weeks are:
5/28/18 - 218 lb.
6/2/18 - 228 lb.
So far, that would put her at an ADG of 2 lb. She was eating 5 lb. each day between those weights, but now I lowered it down to 4.5 lb. per day because she would be overweight (her projected weight would have been 282 lb. with 5 lb. of food per day, but my fair's weight limit is 275). Weigh-in is June 30.

Thanks!

I would say you want to add some Fat to her diet. What ever supplements you have available there is a high fat one. From pictures it is hard to tell how she walks, if she is loose or tight.

Thanks for the suggestion! Do you have a supplement that you specifically like for adding fat? BTW, I don't have access to Purina products. I've been told to use milk replacer but not sure if there's a better supplement that'll work faster instead of that... I'd say she walks pretty smoothly. She's probably the most energetic pig I've ever had, as she sprints across the yard constantly, despite her weight over 200 lb.! I attached a short video of her walking:

Also, do you think I should get a supplement that will help her stomach to drop? I've noticed that in pictures her stomach/flank looks fine, but when you see her in person, I think it could be dropped a little bit...

From the video she looks good but hard. Definantly you need to add fat. If you can get ADM you can get MooreFat. Contact your feed store and they will be able to tell you what they carry. I would go with the supplement because it has other things in it to help.

A few weeks on 4 oz. of Essential Soft Silk per day can do wonders for your project! A cherry flavored liquid fat that will soften her up and increase her bloom.

Can also lower protein level in her base feed and make sure feed has plenty of fat.
