paylean should I use it?

Post by Slumlord9242 » Tue Jul 10, 2018 4:05 am

Need advice on whether to use paylean on my sons pig. This is our 2nd year raising pigs for show and we still are figuring things out. My sons FFA teacher recommended paylean 14-21 days before show. His pig is currently 243 lbs and we have 17 days to show. We are currently feeding 5lbs of HSC 909 and 1lb of depth charge a day. Pictures of pig are below.

Instead of Paylean, add High Octane Champion Drive at 1 lbs per day, and then the final 10 days add High Octane Fitter 52 at 8 oz per day.

Evaluate the pig with 6-7 days remaining and if Fitter 52 isn't adding enough shape etc... increase to 1 lbs per day for the final 5 days.

The thing to watch for is the pig getting too lean. You would have the same issue with Paylean, but you won't have feet and joint issues (and the added weight gain).
