Weight gain suggestions
Have 35 days to go... is 100 lbs doable in that time frame? The humidity the past few weeks put a damper on the ADG . I added another fan to the pen today. Currently feeding 16%
Re: Weight gain suggestions
100 lbs in 35 days = 2.86 lbs/day (100 / 35 = 2.86). It is doable but, not very probable. Besides the fans, you need to rinse the pigs with water to cool them down.
Basically, the body heat of the pig is transferred to the water beadlets on the pig. And then when air moves across the pig it blows the water beadlets off the pig taking the heat. But, this has to be done several times per day (rinsing the pigs with water) during the peak heat periods.
Cooling the pigs body temperature is the only way to get feed intake back up. Also use fat in the diet (like High Octane Heavy Weight) starting at 4 oz per day and about every 3 days increase by 4 oz until you are feeding 12 oz per day. Mix Heavy Weight with enough water to make a milk shake like consistency then put on the feed.
Also consider Paylean as it dramatically increases weight gain.

Re: Weight gain suggestions
KGB, I have a hamp gilt that’s 100lbs. Weigh in on September 5 and minimum is 180lbs. I am currently feeding 809 with 4 oz of heavy weight, power fuel and half a scoop of paylean. I need to make weight any suggestions?
