making pigs dense

Post by ddwil » Sun May 26, 2019 12:26 pm

i keep hearing the saying the "pigs need to be more dense". I am just wanting to know what this exactly means and how do you or can you make them more dense by how you feed them

My guess would be that it means more flesh and muscle mass. Genetics and selection will play a huge role in what happens, but supplements like Champion Drive and Moorbody can help. We like to start using fat products (we use Sunglo Sumo and Moorman's 3-D oil) early on, before you need realize you need them. We also start using flank and belly products like Ultra Full and Depth Charge in small quantities early on to start dropping the bottom side. About a month out we will use Fitter 52 to start sculpting the muscle under the cover. We have a good success with the method, producing pigs that are heavy muscled, full looking and have good fat cover.

Not sure what kind of shows you are going to when you hear this critique, but often times kids who don't raise animals competitively will raise pigs that are basic, possibly sucked up on the under side, and without much definition or dimension.
