Lysine
Lysine
Our friends are feeding a grain mixture to their three show pigs and are struggling to get them to gain weight. They claim they’re feeding 21% protein. I don’t know the fat percentage. They did however state that the lysine was at 3.94%. I have never heard of lysine being that high. Is this a problem? Should their lysine be in a specific range?
Re: Lysine
Straight soybean meal is not that high (~3.06%). Something is way wrong. 21% protein doesn’t correspond to 3.94% lysine.

Re: Lysine
Even if they were at 18% is the lysine still steep? Could this be part of the reason they are struggling to gain weight?
Re: Lysine
That lysine level is impossible with an 18% crude protein feed. I’m saying it’s wrong, incorrect maybe even messed up. So there is no answer for that question because it doesn’t exist.
