framing and maturing

Post by ddwil » Fri Jan 24, 2020 7:45 am

I hear these terms about letting a pig frame up and mature during their growing stage. How do you do this? What per cent protein and how much feed to get them to do these things?

This more than likely referring to letting your pig develop into their body as they grow at a younger age, as opposed to pushing feed hard young and having big gutted pigs early. Generally speaking you would have a heavier framed pig that could handle heavier weights as they are older. This may also mean you buy a slightly older pig than you may be used to. You still want muscle development, so that percentage is based off of what you need there. Feed would be based off the size of the pig.
