Pig with ulcer not eating very much

I have a barrow that is recovering from a very bad ulcer that had him throwing up blood. He is not throwing up anymore and is eating again but very little. It looks like he is aggressively eating but he isn't actually consuming very much, just moving his mouth. I have been giving him pepcid every 12 hrs per vet's recommendation. I also put yogurt on his feed, he eats that pretty quickly but the feed not so much. Looking for recommendations to help alleviate his ulcer. Thank you.

Just FYI. Our feeds (Purina Honor Show feeds)719, 819 and 919 all contain High Octane Alleviate just for this problem... digestive tract health.

Thank you! I did order some high octane alleviate to add to their current food.

I would recommend searching for Hogdoc’s ulcer protocol. There is some great information on getting ulcers fixed quickly and the pig going again.

I agree with Dr. Burgoon prevention is better than treatment every day. But once you are dealing with one you need effective treatment.

We updated and went into a bit more detail about ulcers and how we treat them in our blog in December. Hopefully you find it useful.
