Need slow gains

Post by Plainview » Sat Apr 01, 2023 7:18 pm

Our pigs are currently at 125 pounds. They have to weigh less than 185 pounds in 40 days and between 220-300 pounds in 100 days.

We're currently feeding Purina 719.

We need to average approximately 1.5 lb/day for the next 3 months which seems like not very much.

Is there any recommendations for feeding as we move forward?

Thanks.

Feed:

(Total daily feed: divide into 2 equal meals):
Purina Honor 719. 2 lb
High Octane Champion Drive. 1 lb
High Octane Depth Charge 8 oz

Monitor weight gain, but this should put the pig at about 1.3 lb per day or so.

After the weigh in feed either of these 2 diets:
(Total daily feed; divide into 2 equal meals):
719. 2 lb
Powerfill. 2 lb
Depth Charge. 8 oz

If you can’t find Powerfill use Champion Drive in its place.

Either diet should have the pig gaining about 1.5 lb per day. The Champion Drive diet maybe a little less

Thanks Kevin, that's just the advice I was looking for.

We have Powerfill available at our farm store.
