Vomitting Pregnant Gilt

Post by Sheridan_show_pigs » Fri Oct 12, 2018 10:52 am

So we have a Gilt who is due in about 40 days and these past two days she has been throwing up in the morning. She has thrown up before this incident but was fine after. Yesterday when she threw up it was grassy and my mom gave her a lot of alfalfa the day before so I just thought it was too much and she might have eaten too fast. She threw up about 4 times and after that I gave her some Gatorade and a couple handfuls of her food and she was fine and then later gave her the rest of her food. That night she was not interested in her food that much. This morning I go out there and she seems a little cheerier than yesterday but is not screaming for her food like normal. She has no interest in her food this time just wants to get out and roam. I let her roam for an hour and I go out to check on her and she has thrown up her food from the morning before. Her attitude is fine no appetite and she seems a little consipated in her poops. I have seen her drink a little water but not much. If anyone has any idea what it could be or what to do please message back. Thank you!

I am only guessing, but the way you are describing things i would have to say she is eating something that is upsetting her stomach when she is roaming. There are alot of weeds and vegitation that can do those things. I would try keeping her confined for awhile and just giving her what she normally eats.
