Infected ear tag

Post by insulator » Wed Jan 23, 2019 5:40 pm

I have a sow that’s bred for Mid April litter. Her Federal ID button has become infected to the point that her ear swelled around it. I now have a hole in her ear with hard swelling around in and does not appear to be pus. I have given multiple doses of penicillin and it seemed to improve only to come back in several days after. Now she has swelling in a back leg just above hoof and gave Gour days of linco and still isn’t better. Any other suggestions? TIA

There are provisions for replacing USDA tags if an accredited veterinarian signs off on it. While they are making that call they can look at her leg.
