Pig not eating well/maybe sick?

Post by mhartline » Mon Jun 24, 2019 9:40 pm

Have a pig that is not eating well. He did have mange and has been treated with Ivomec. Mange is clearing up well now. However his eating habits are still poor. He doesn’t clean out his feeder. Other pigs are being wet fed and eat everything within 10 minutes. When he gets up to eat he has a arched back and seems somewhat lame on his back feet. Checked hooves/pads and they are healthy. Thought this was due to the mange but it still continues though mange has cleared up. He is very lethargic or not as active as I believe he should be. At times he just sits and eats out of his hanging feeder. He is only gaining around 1.3 lbs/day. I have tried Rooster Booster at around 20mls one time a day added to his feed. He has been wormed with safeguard also. Assuming it’s more internal at this point.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

I’m not sure the pig is ill, rather sounds like he might have some structural issues that cause him discomfort when he stands.
