Pee pocket

Post by craiglibby » Thu Apr 07, 2022 7:23 am

We have a 2 1/2 month old barrow that has developed a pee pocket. What is everyone's best advice for these? Drain it everyday? Leave it alone to work itself out? If it's left alone, what are the chances of infection taking hold?

We currently have one that is pretty bad. Like swells up to almost a small tangerine size. So we drain 2/3 times per day. His is going to be fixed by a vet, not sure what they do to fix it though.
We had one a few years ago that wasn't as bad, just had to drain every other day so we left it alone.
So might just depend on severity

I had a boar with this issue. If you take him to the vet it is an inexpensive operation. They enlarge the hole in the sheath usually requires epidural. It definitely makes the sheath look better than it does swelled and red, and it is taken care of no daily care. IMO
