Im trying to use my brothers boar on one of my sows and he is not getting it in her. It looks like she is a little to tall on he is to sort legged. They are the same age.and he has bred some gilts last fall and this spring. Anybody got any ideas on what to do?

Was there at the start of this year.

Ended up having to back the sow into a low spot of the hill for him to connect.

Some suggest using cender blocks to make him higher.

Son tried collecting and then AI(ing) her, but we had issues of not using an extender to get it through the rod.

You can try helping him by directing and inserting his penis in the sow. I know, doesn't make sense that you should have to do this for him, but there have been other boars that just don't seem to get the job done by themselves. AI is your other option - but you need to handle and extend the semen correctly.

I made a 24" X 24" wooden platform out of 2 X 6's & 3/4" plywood with an old piece of carpet on top (to prevent slipping) for him to stand on and get high enough, he learned quickly what to do, and sometimes I will have to help him hit the hole with a gloved hand.
