Can you use non- spermicidal lube that is not sterile? We've always used sterile but this is what they shipped

Thanks for the quick response. So it doesn't matter if sterile or non sterile as long as it's non spermicidal

The sterile lube has one use that is actually sterile (the first time you open it and apply a dab to the catheter). After that, it is no longer sterile. I had a lubricant manufactured for Continental Plastic over the years that was technically not sterile, although it was just as clean as any of those that went through sterilization. I'd be more concerned about whether it is truly non-spermicidal. Most lubricants make that claim based upon the ph of the product being close to what is tolerable to sperm cells. However few of them have the correct osmolarity to be safe to sperm cells. If you actually squirt some into a dose of semen you will find out pretty quickly if it is truly non-spermicidal. Most are not. The good news is that the lubricant rarely would come into contact with the semen during a normal insemination.
