Bred and PG600 and Non-Cycling

Post by Rway » Tue Nov 15, 2016 1:26 pm

I will assume I know my answer since it is a hormone. Is there any issue with giving a gilt or sow that could be preg. a shot of PG600? Now for the why. I experienced three gilts this year who cycled on the first shot of PG600 but then quit cycling. The next two cycles, there was no sign of heat. On a whim I gave them a shot of PG600 again, and they all three came in and were bred. Obviously these no cycles could be seen as bred if I had put dose in them. I have another gilt that I bred, that is not cycling and is not registering on the preg-tone. So I am thinking she is not cycling like the other three. So if I give her a shot of PG600 would it effect the babes if she is bred?

"It is a very safe drug. It will not induce abortion in pregnant sows accidently injected "

That was a very good article. Thank you.

I'm not a Vet and all I'm sharing is an article. I'm sure there are others that will argue to the contrary of this article.
