What is your opinion on gilt Uterine prolapse pre farrow? Is it genetic or more of a feed issue?

In my experience over 40 years this is primarily feed mycotoxin related.

We had some ear mold locally this fall - nothing like 2009 - and I had one gilt with a uterine prolapse last month.

I havn't tested my feed but add the micotox and aniferm in my gestation ration.they do eat a lot of their bedding but have now switched to shavings for them.our uterine prolapse gilt just farrowed 13 and I stitched her vulva to hold in.do you see the prolapse coming back if we breed her again?

The most wise decision you could make is to sell her.
