Farowing questions..... for a first time farrower.

Post by AndreB57 » Fri Jan 06, 2017 3:11 pm

How many days before should I put the gilt in the crate before expected farrowing date?

How long should I keep the gilt in the crate with the pigs milking before I wean?

What meds should I give baby pigs and how many days.

Good to have her in the crate 3-4 days before farrowing for her adaptation and your comfort.

Typically pigs on the sow for 25 days plus minus a few.

Pigs need iron, options are rhinitis, mycoplasma, Circo ......

If this is a gilt 2 shots before they farrow or 1 shot if a sow (litterguard) along with shot of dectomax 2 weeks out to
Get rid of 1) bad bacteria in mommas gut that causes the piglets to scour and 2) worms and mites on the mommas also.
