Vaccination for show pigs

Post by cah » Fri Jan 20, 2017 1:13 pm

Have baby pigs due again soon .
We always give iron - cirovirus -mycoplasma and Novartis ... my question is last year we lost some pigs after selling. Them to families . Most were strep related ??? Any other suggestions as to what to give pigs to prevent this from happening again . Do those of u that sell give your pigs anything "precaution" antibiotics when they leave the farm ? What is moth of your vaccination protocols we are located in Ohio . Just trying to have a better year ! Thanks

Novartis is a manufacturer, not a disease. Good nursery programs may include some antibiotics, but always focus on clean, dry, warm environments. Lots of time mixing pigs from multiple sources can trigger disease. Best advice is to talk to your veterinarian and design a vaccination protocol for your area.
