Mycotoxins?

Post by apalizay8 » Mon May 15, 2017 9:21 am

I have read up a lot about mycotoxins recently when we started having breeding issues. From what I understand they affect is on just the sows? Does it affect their hormones? Also are the problems corrected once the feed has been corrected?

They have been bad with this corn crop and if you're using ethanol products the problem can be concentrated.
The mycotoxin of major concern in breeding herds mimic the hormone estrogen and unfortunately the problem doesn't go away as soon as they are eliminated from the feed. It takes a couples months for herds to return to normal.

Yes dry by product like DDG is probably the most common but it's also true of the wet by products.
