When to Supplementi Milk

Post by DinoPig » Thu Aug 03, 2017 6:43 pm

How do you determine when to use Birthright or a similar milk replacer on a litter. Is it size of litter or due to a poor milking sow? If poor milker how are you determining this?

Currently have litter of 14 and all seem content and resting while not milking at 2 days old

I usually notice when they are nursing they will be screaming the whole time they are nursing or walking around grunting after like 5 minutes of trying to nurse. You can also see that they will be a little thin compared to other litters. My theory is its never a bad idea to supplement litter and the worse thing is they don't need supplemented.
