Birth to weaning

Post by Teddyballgame047 » Sat Apr 07, 2018 8:30 am

I was wondering if there was a website or information from birth to weaning about steps and when to do them. From clipping ears, teeth, what medications and weaning and when to do all this. Or if maybe someone could list it On here

all of your processing , Cutting needle teeth , notching ears , docking tails should all be done at birth some will even castrate . If you don't get to this done at birth . has to be done within 7 days from birth , weaning can range from 4 weeks old to 6-7 weeks old and usually if you haven't castrated this is the time to do it , also first round of vaccinations . those get followed up 3 weeks after with boosters . National Swine Registry has a great library there is also a great resource library her under general threads .

This is what we do:

- ear notch, castrate: 5-7 days after birth. We use the Barrier II Wound Care after ear notching and the Aerosol Bandage spray on the castrations. We don't use antibiotics for the procedures, just the sprays.
- vaccinations: pick which vaccinations you'll give and follow the instructions on the bottle. We do Circumvent G2 which can be given at 3 days of age with a booster 3 weeks later. We also do Rhinishield at 7 days of age with a booster 2 weeks later.
- wean: ~6 weeks

We don't dock tails, cut teeth, or give iron shots.

Good luck!
