eating dirt

Post by wufpkgrl » Sat Apr 20, 2019 11:00 am

We have a pig that is only eating dirt. We were told that she was pregnant but never farrowed (we are not sure this is true) she has had a fever for about a week we have been treating and had discharge. We have had a vet come out and we thing we are on the right track with the fever and discharge. But she is only eating dirt, we have tried everything- fed, we fed, grass, clover, marshmallows, donuts, muffin that I didn't eat for breakfast. Anyone have any suggestions???
We did give Lut to open up her cervix (4 days ago) and flush her cervix and gave Oxy. yesterday in addition to the Draxxin and Banamine as needed.

To me sounds like she has dead pigs in her. All you can really do is keep doing what your doing. This could take some time if she comes out of it. Just keep food with her and keep her hydrated. She is going to be a sick pig for awhile. When she does come out of it i am not sure she will be easy to get bred if that is her purpose. I never have been able to get one bred like that.

Thanks we are fine with not breeding her again just want her to get back to normal and start eating. Her temp has been in the 103’s the past 2 days and less discharge. Hoping we are close to the end.
When we went to pick her up we saw that she was not being kept as promised and cared for so I do not think he checked her after she farrowed. This was her first litter.
