Ok, I have a few questions regarding the use of PG 600, matrix and when gilts and sows come into standing heat. I have young gilts that have not had any heat cycles and want to give them PG 600 to start their heat cycles. So after I give them a shot of PG 600, how many days after the shot will they be in "standing" heat and ready to breed and based on this when should I order my semen, to ensure freshness of it, to breed them? Also, I would like to know the same as to giving matrix to the sows for 14 days, how soon will they come into "standing" heat after stopping the matrix and then when is the best timing to order the semen when using matrix? Also, are they in "standing" heat on day 21 or is day 21 when they first start showing signs of being in heat, swollen vulva, etc..? Thank you

Day 21 is the day they are standing to the next cycle standing.

It's about the same for matrix and PG...4-9 days. On average we see them standing around day 5.

It's not recommended to breed on the cycle off PG 600. The conception rates are a lot lower. You should aim to breed off the second cycle that would occur naturally.

21 days is just the average cycle. I have had them cycle at 17 days or 24 days. You will have to watch. Best way is to monitor for a couple cycles

I have a gilt that is young, not quite 6 months of age, so my question is with PG 600 do you give it to a gilt that has not yet cycled or do you give her matrix instead?
