Had a gilt need a c-section. Vet came out and got 15 babies out 13 alive and full term. As the vet was giving the piglets the Xylazine reversal we noticed white foam coming out of some of the piglets mouths. Gilt wouldn't let piglets nurse so we pulled the littles and supplemented them with milk replacer and a colostrum supplement. All 13 babies seem to be doing fine. 3 days later the gilt dies- which was expected. Then over the next few days all of the piglets have suddenly died. They would eat well seem to have energy were warm under a heat lamp and then they would just go down hill fast. A few seemed to scour a little- figured that was just the milk, then ones eyes matted shut, one had yellow discharge out of its nose and was foaming at the mouth. The foam was more airy then the white foam sows get when they are hungry. So overall in 7 days we have had basically 100% mortality on this litter. All other litters seem to have had no issues except this one- the way things are housed during gestation i would think if one gilt got a virus the others would have as well.
Any suggestions on what is going on?
I used farrowsure gold prior to breeding
Also, I had ordered a crossbred boar semen to use on this purebred gilt and I am fairly certain these piglets were all purebreds.
