Is it to late to breed my sow to get fall show pigs mid aug thru sept?

For market hogs, we usually shoot for a pig that is 6 to 6 1/2 months old at the show. That means we have to breed the sow about 10 months before the intended show date.

For pigs you will be showing in mid aug- sept you would want them to farrow in febuary so you would have had to breed them after october 8th and before november 6th for your gilt to farrow sometime in feb.

well the gestation for a sow is 114 days so if you want to farrow pigs in august you would need to breed late april and may. if you want to show in august then it is way to late to breed for that.

don't you have a breeding wheel or gestation chart? if so you would know when you have to breed for what age pigs. good luck
