In all actuality there are two ways to "prove" genetics. Breed the boar and get litters on the ground. The other way is to build your reputation and before long it won't matter what genetics you use they must be good because you use them. You can shorten that time by getting one of the people above to use or buy one of your pigs.

As for the Powerhouse boar at Hilltop, that boar is falling apart on the backend. Has anyone watched the video? I thought that the video was skipping but it was just his front end pauseing to wait for his back end to catch up. The only thing that I would say about him is he should be able to increase the number of spraddle sows in your herd.

On the subject of new versus proven genetics, the dairy industry has sort of a rule of thumb breed 80% to proven sires and 20% to new sires. That way if a new boars turns out to be a flop you have not sunk all your farrowing into it.

To "JMCHogFarmsTX" and "Cajun", I believe we are talking about the same barrows that won the county show in Texas. The two littermate barrows were shown in Texas and were Champ and Res of the county show. That makes 3 out of the litter that have won up to this point.
