I have a bunch of Batmans and really pleased with them. Anybody out there fed one? Looking for some feedback on that.

I have one mature litter that I am very happy with. He added bone, foot, and flexiblity to a sow that needed it.

fed one for denver. he was designed about as good as you would want one with a ton of shape and expression. we could never really get him fat enough to play with the good ones though. when he was 150lbs i really thought he was going to be a special one but it never happened.

Fed 8 of em last summer, the gilts were awesome designed and plenty shape. Barrow's were easiest feeding hogs that I have ever worked with. Had a little extra fat in the feed but not anymore than any other hog I fed this last year. They really grew well for crosses, they were youngest pigs on feed and had put the brakes on them before some that were 3 weeks older.

not to sure. he was from ottenwalter and out of one of his new kid sows. i believe the highest protein i ever fed him was 17%. had him on sumo and everything. they claimed all of their batmans were world beaters in the grow barn but they didnt have much luck getting them to turn out. eveyones sows are different though so who knows, i might be the minority

RW must have seen something he liked due to the fact the mating has been repeated, and apparently PSSS was bent over in order to get to put the full sib into stud.

I would think that the with the very good quality of the semen that PSSS is putting out, plus the fact that Batman himself has a little bit of age on him, that PSSS will come out quite nicely on that boar.

Is this boar tall fronted? From the video he looks REALLY REALLY sound and kind of short to the ground in my opinion. and maybe a little shallow in his forerib?

I would still use Batman over the new boar at PSSS due to the $75 difference in price. SGI always sends out quality semen and they seem to be good at taking care of the great ones, plus Batman isn't that old so should be around a while.

He won't sire them short. But they appear to me to be very correct .

As far as not maturing out great, the funny thing is I know a breeder that has a very successful track record that had just the opposite experience. They were so plain that they didn't sell in the spring. But when it came time to send them to market, it was "Where did those hogs come from?" Another breeder was so impressed with his first set that he bred a high number to him. So everyone's experience is different, but he sounds like a good boar to use.

There are probably other RW hogs that will put more capacity into them, but all in all he is a safe, consistent sire that moves you in the right direction, leaving you something to build on.

B said it about right, in my limited number of litters from him, that is what I am seeing. Mine weren't really that late maturing, the sow had good capacity. He is a good foundation female sire I believe. 2 of the gilts in my August litter make me smile. :)
