Super monster daughters

Post by hampy622 » Thu Jun 21, 2012 7:06 pm

What boars have been working well on super monster daughters? Ours needs to be wider chested and deeper bodied. Should be plenty of boars that fit the bill just wondering whats had the most success on super monster.

looks like Hillbilly Bone clicks well there. LVS has one and Cutting Edge has a new one as well.

Hillbilly is the master of inconsistency. I've heard from several prominent breeders that there is a lot of sort in his litters.

Shes bigger framed not huge but to big for barrows. I keep hearing alot of these popular lines are inconsistent.

They're crossbreds...they're going to be inconsistant. got to keep some pure blood in them

Alias? Space Monkey? The Super 7 line (particularly the New Castle bred hogs (i.e. Super Monster))? It seems like those lines have been pretty consistent as crosses. I can't speak much for the Drop Shot line as I have little experience with it. I will agree that is important to remain some "purity" in your herd, however, to claim there is no consistency in crosses is ludicrous.

I dont recall claiming there was no consistency in crossbreds, because its pretty clear there is at times. Just that they are "typically" less consistant than purebreds. Which is why I said there needs to be some pure in them.

No sarcasm here, but aren't Alias, Space Monkey, and Super Monster fairly linebred? You mentioned New Castle Genetics and I know those hogs have lots and lots of "Super 7" if you expand their pedigree.
