Hampshire boar to make pure females??

I just purchased a full sibling to sledge hammer at SGI and was looking to make purebred gilts from her. Like to see her opened up just a touch more and I think she needs a little more power throughout. Really an ideal hamp gilt that I think can make a guy a really nice group of purebred gilts. Was wondering what boars out there are ideal for making purebred gilts?? Was looking at Man Amongst Boys, Carry On, Double Point at Hi Point. HayMaker at Laird's. Obviously there's other boars out there, but looking for the one that can do as I stated above while maintaining structural integrity. Thanks guys

I am a real big fan of Man Amongst Boys. I really like the way his 50 lb pigs look when they are sold. Have not seen any at market weight but bet they would look good.

This would not be my selection when you asked to use a boar to generate pure females. MAB paints them up as much as any Hamp boar I've seen in a long time. If you want to ruin your color markings, then use him. If you want to make some market hogs then fire away.

If I were going to reach out and try to get some semen to use on a nice Hamp Female. I would call Joostbern's in Michigan and see if I could get a couple doses of Harbaugh! You might want to check out a son of him called The Game at Shaffer's.

It depends on your budget. I would give thunderstruck at cains a shot. We have a gilt that is phenominal out of him. And Mary-Oakie you are completely right about man amongst boys. He throws a lot of color into his litters.

I also agree with posts above. Thunderstruck is probably the best hamp boar I have ever seen!! If hes too costly then I would look into The Game at Shaffers or New Recruit at Top Cut. I personally prefer New Recruit at Top Cut but they are littermates and can make the decision based on your sow needs.

That's very interesting about MAB and the color pattern he's throwing. Yeah Thunderstruck is one that is out of the price that I'm willing to pay. Had a guy couple months ago tell me MAB looked like a crossbred just makes me wonder I guess, has anyone seen Carry On at HiPoint?? Basically when I'm looking for is something to just help her out with a little more pop in her hams, she's got a nice big midsection, decent extension and get's around good. A boar to add just a touch more bone and give her a little more pop as she walks away, right now she just looks little flat in the rear.
