Money Talks

Has anyone used him or seen pigs out of this boar at Genetic Edge. His Video looks impressive! Thanks for any responses.

Haven't seen him in person, but did see three pigs out of him at a county nearby. All pigs were very good and of the similar mold being moderate, powerful, bulky, and square built. Talked to the breeder of those three pigs and he said he sired consistent litters for him adding bone, body, and muscle. Talked to another person who has seen money talks in person and he said he is tangled legged from behind. With that being said I don't know if he sires his rear legs but i would definitely protect him there. Probably throw him on a big framed good looking female that is good built.

I used him on a gilt (Thumper x Monumental) that is due around Aug. 25th. I'm anxious to see how they turn out.

I bred him to my best sow.....she is a Starbuck sired crossbred. 14 pigs born, 13 alive, super heavy on boars. Some of them that I sold as young pigs (and not all buyers stay in touch of course) were a bit slow to grow compared to others in years past it seemed. The ones that were bought by good feeders looked the part at fair time and did well. I kept two, a barrow and a gilt. The barrow was dead on killer at fair time. Won the middle weight division at 260 pounds and came back to win the overall market hog banner. Without a doubt, the best market hog I've ever produced. Not over powering any one area but just flat out good from nose to tail. The littermate gilt I kept was not as powerful, more maternal in her make up (not a bad thing). Pushing 7 months old, I like her better now than I did two months ago and will keep her and breed her this fall.

Would you say he adds mass and power?

On the sow I used him on, yes. The barrow we have has plenty, excellent on his rear wheels, and a front end to die for in my mind. The gilt, like I said earlier is a little plainer, more maternal. Another barrow that was raised by a young man who was feeding to win was very similar to our barrow. The only other pig out of the litter that I have seen since they left my place was one additional gilt who did not grow.....didn't even hit 200 pounds by six months of age at the fair.....but they fed the cheapest feed available (and it showed). As you know, a lot of it has to do with the feed/fit, but I will say that entire litter looked the part when they left my place at 8 weeks old.

Gilt had 10 born on the 25th; nine alive. 7M, 2F. He threw some nice chromed up color patterns and although they are only 5 days old, they look like they will play the part
