In control (York Boar,Moyers)

Post by SwineGuy89 » Mon Aug 29, 2016 3:43 pm

I am thinking of breeding my crossbred gilt (mostly Hampshire) to "in control" at genetic edge. I will be breeding for show quality barrows but I would also like to know if he throws good replacement gilts? I want to know in your personal experience if he is a sound boar that throws consistent litters? Also I want to know if you have used him if you would recommend him with confidence?Any insight would be much appreciated, open to any opinion. Thanks in advance! :D

If he complements your females, I would use him. There are a lot of replacement females out there out of him. If you are a little worried about getting them a little too small framed, you may want to use his son that is at Moyers called Gain Control. From the females I saw out of him this summer, the hip and hind leg along with bone was spot on.

Thanks for the reply I will look into another sire as my gilt is wide, however I do worry about her pelvic region and would like to breed to something that will sire replacement gilts that fix this issue.

Thought about moonshiner sire "firewall" but never much consideration into moonshine.
