Berkshire meat

Does anyone know... when you are breeding to berks for meat quality does it need to be berk on berk or can you breed berk boar to a cross bred sow and get good results?

Berkshire bred berkshire and kept pure would be the best results and even better if use lines that have documented meat quality genetics. Berkshire on cross would be good but would depend on the crossbred sow and if she carries the stress gene or other factors that would effect meat quality. Iowa State and Ohio State have lots of research on this scenario.
