In our area the normal weight of a champion barrow = 270-275. Breeding gilts are always above 270#

Think within 10 or 15 pounds of the maximum weight for your show. If there is no weight limit, 270-280 is usually a good weight. However, if your gilt is younger or has a small frame, you don't want to pack more weight on her than she can handle.

its always been 250-270 in my county

Its according to what kind it is. Is it cross or pure bred. Usually a cross is around 270-285. A pure bred is usally around 330-350. Hope it helps

depending on frame size I like to try to keep mine around that 320lb range. I dont think you need to over do it and get to much condition on them a lot of these 340+ gilts are getting that way because to get a 6 or 7 month gilt to that point you really have to push them and this is where they get a little fat on people.

Several years ago it was 250. Seems like the trend today is about 275.

The different frame set on that like 255-260 or 265-270 and 270-280
