escape artist!

Post by 4-Hgilts » Wed Jul 29, 2009 6:19 pm

My stupid pig keeps getting out of her pen! I keep having to repair spots after spots in her pen. Today she busted out of the gate and went to my neighbors house by the pool! It is getting really frustrating and noone in my family will help me fix the retarted pen. I guess this is more of a complaint than anything but advice or even stories of ur pig's escapes would be enjoyable.

I had a boar that no matter what i did he would manage to get out. He was easily over 500 pounds and he could still clear the top of the gates. When i finally built them high enough he would use his nose to lift them up. I got so frustrated I rung his nose. That didnt last long because he learned to use his forehead. I just kept adding stuff until it was like alcatraz and he hasn't gotten out since.

yeah. one time she got out the day after i brought her home and it was a school day and also pitch black in the morning. i ended up missing school for 2 hours cuz me and my mom and neighbors were trying to catch her. she was 21 lbs and didn't know me yet so she ran really fast when she saw us! she ran across the street, down the road, in the field, in the woods, evertywhere!!! we finally ended up catching her in the neighbors field cuz our amish neighbor kid her for us, he just pounced on her. lol! but then she still gets out once in awhile as a 200 lb pig so she doesn't go far but she doesn't like going back into her pen!

when they start getting out they will continue to get out! if they succeeded by pushing on the boards or breaking the gate ... or whatever they just keeping trying that because it worked before. until you fix it right they will just keep doing it!!! get the amish kid to fix it for you.

Ha ur funny! I would never ask an amish kid to fix anything for me! All they do is stare at me. I think it's pretty well fixed for now. It will not be permanent and the pig is only going to be in the pen for another month so it should hold. My dad actually agreed to help me fix up the pen and re-do it a a little before next spring, so i think i'm good. Thnx anways guys!-

Well if you are still having the problem maybe give him something to play with. Such as a piece of chain or a ball or something like that. But now that he knows what its like outside of the pen you may be in troule!

you should try rubbing vicks on the inside of the pen they cant stand the smell. that how we keep pigs from fighting. it sounds stupid but it works our boar did the same thing and it worked for him
