New here

Post by gradyshowpigs » Wed Aug 11, 2010 3:48 pm

Hey y'all! I'm new here, My names Collin and I've showed pigs for about 5 years now, & I'm from Texas. I show at my local County and San Antonio every year.

My favorite breed of pig is a Blue Butt, then a Yorkshire.

I only show Yorks and Crosses because as my dad says "Yorks, Crosses, & Hamps win the show!"

Hello, I'm 9 from Washington Parish (on with my mom). This will be my 1st year showing pigs and being in 4H. We are hoping that I can show Ruby my 3/4 red wattle and 1/4 hampshire gilt at our October fair. My mom is working on getting me a Hereford pair for Nov for me to show in our Jr. Livestock Show at the end of Jan.

I'd started off with 2 land/york barrows and grew them out. Could not sell them until my mom and Pa-Pa took them to the slaughter house for our own freezer. Then we could of sold them 4 times over....go figure.

Ruby and Garnet are a blast until they start to bite. Been working on that with them.

Good luck this year in the shows and school.

Welcome aboard Collin. I'm from Ohio and I like Durocs & Crossbred pigs. We raise crossbreds, but I just bought a pure york gilt so who knows what the future holds. I think you will find that this site is a great resource to all your questions.
