intensity

Post by SSS14 » Tue Aug 02, 2011 10:23 pm

I was showing at a state show. I took fourth in showmanship. My pig cooperated realy well gave the judge all the views. He placed me 4th because I didn't have enough intensity. what is a way to show intensity?

When they say intensity they are talking more about bending over your hog and keeping your eyes fixed on the judge. Not necessarily working your hog harder and trying to out do the other showers but a good showman should know his hogs strengths and weaknesses and he should work to showoff the good and hide the bad. My ag teachers were always really big on getting us to always have eye contact with the judge wether its showmanship or your actual class. It just lets that judge know that your really into the show and that you dont have to focus on your pig because you have done enough work with it that it could almost show itself.
