I would like some help learning how to train a pig to walk with it's head up. I have seen it's done and really like the way it looks. I already spend a lot of time training them but want to go to the next level. Any advise would be appreciated.

Take your pipe or whip ,I prefer a 1/2 in. curved plastic pipe which is a piece of black poly pipe like material that you can get at a plumbing store, and use your whip/pipe to tap the hog under his neck.Tap him there whenever his head goes down.

Try feeding your pig marshmellows or jellybeans...find a gooey snack he likes. Then, rub the end of your driving stick with the food...the pig will follow the smell! GOOD LUCK!

A way that has allways worked for me is have there feeder up in the air so they have to have there head up to eat same with the water then on show day you cut the feed off and the pig walks around with its head up looking for food

Dip your whip in pure vanilla extract. Let the pig taste it first and then hold the whip just out of the pigs reach and the pig will hold it head as high as you hold the whip.

Giving the pig a hit under the chin always works, but it also helps to make the pig comfortable to have the head in the air. We have always raised feeders and water nipples, they get use to having there head up more and it becomes more natural.

at our fair we are only allowed to use canes so right before show we dip the end in caramel sauce just dont let it hit the sand peanut butter works well but
caramel sauce is less obvious it is also useful cause our judges really dont like us touching the pig

if you raise their waterer it will help their muscles to get used to going up then they will not mind and it will not be as much of a strain to them
