Help !!! Need help with a barn sour pig

Post by LazyHrocker » Wed Jul 30, 2014 11:47 am

Ive got a hamp cross. I think its crossed with a chester but I could be wrong. I am raising it on concrete and trying to walk it on dirt. Every time I try to walk the pig it runs out of the pen and either runs to the showers or right in front of the other pigs pen (theres only 2 pigs in the barn). Every time I try to drive him, he only walks about 10 feet from the pen and turns around and runs back. When ever I am able to get him to the door of the barn, I am only able to keep him there for a minute or two and then he runs back to his pen. Ive tried rewarding him with food with little or no success. Of all the pigs Ive raised and been around, Ive never seen one quite this stubborn.

let all pigs out together and keep the barn door locked where they cant return. A few days of that and he will be fine.

Walk the pig yourself and have someone else walk one of the other pigs with it. If possible, shut barn doors so they can not run back in. It will be frustrating at first, but after the first week or so try walking the pig by itself with the doors open.
