Pig Selection Help Needed!

Post by Glaxzor » Wed Aug 31, 2016 9:39 am

It's a Aldine FFA Selection coming up.
It's more of a Muscle and Fat Auction, So they look for fat, muscle and can it sub-stain all the weight.
What's the best type of breed, that'll be easy to make auction and close to championship.
It's a highschool auction, so it's pretty much swines, blue butts.. Most common pigs.

I think hampshires and Durocs would be best for what you have described needing, Hamp's are deffinitley muscular, however they have less back fat, on the other hand Durocs have muscle it's just softer, however they have nice lean fat!
It's not all about being the heaviest muscled hog, Its about balance.
