Rear legs

Post by showininfla » Mon Feb 03, 2020 1:38 pm

Son has a great gilt for market show. Show date is 2/29. Gilt currently weighs 255 lbs. Good strong gilt. Question, when she walks, she doesn't have that wide stance in the rear. Never been injured, has no problems walking. Broad chested, longer bodied. Have tried elevating her feed (even more) trying to force her to open up those rear legs. Any tips or tricks? This girl is great and I hate for her not to do as well as she can.

If the legs are set that way there is nothing you can do. That is what we call a structure issue. The best thing you can do is learn from it and try to read it in piglets when you go to select for your next project.
