Well it doesn't matter unless you have rules for it. If you walk you pigs more you can use a whip because it would be easier. So start out on the pipe then use a whip when they are trained. :D

I have always used a whip in the show ring and at my houses. I think it makes you look like you have better control over your pig if all you have to do it tap it with a little whip instead of a pipe,cane, or paddle.... But that's just my opinion. The judge at my fair last year flat out said he prefers when kids used whips because it looks like they have better control especially if you do showmanship and he said this during the market show. Every pig responds differently to paddles whips pipes and canes. It really also depends on the pig.
