So far they have 400 hogs entered 100 of them being from Georgia and the rest from 14 other states. Those are the latest numbers I hear.
A word to the wise ain't necessary - it's the stupid ones that need the advice.

I am going to take up for us in Ga. We were planning on going, but with the corn prices and the prices of hogs, realistically another set of pigs in the barn would be too much. For those that don't know, our state show is held in Feb. in Perry. This is a rather large show. Also, the pigs are not classified into breeds at the state show. Therefore, most of us have cross pigs for this show. Even if we were to show a pure at both shows (and just have one set) you could not be competetive at the earlier show wth a lighter pig. Maybe next year things will work out for us in Georgia. Most of us already have at least 3 sets of pigs a year. (Summer shows, Fall shows and Winter shows. ) I am going to attend and watch. Don't get me wrong, I think it is a great idea for NJSA to come to Ga. I am excited about it. It just didn't work out for some of us this year.

We will be there with 2 duroc barrows and 2 duroc gilts, if we can get them well. One of the gilts came down with pneumonia Thursday. Got her on excenel and seems to be getting better. The two barrows and the sick gilt are Turbo x Big Red Machine pigs. The other gilt we purchased from Wendell Crumbacher. It is a Total Package x Drastic pig.

We tried to get our sow bred back for Louisville and missed. So now she and our other gilts are bred for the fall shows.

Maybe it will be a good turnout and we can continue to have this show.
